As it continues to expand its footprint in Germany’s recently regulated market, British online and mobile casino software provider iSoftBet has partnered with Jokerstar Casino, the new digital interest of established land-based operator Kling Automaten GmbH.

A gambling expansion bill has finally made headway in Connecticut. After passing with the Senate late Tuesday evening, the measure now heads to the governor’s desk. Sports betting and online gambling are close to passing into law, after years of debate on the subject.

Moving forward with a vote of 28-6, the measure had enough bipartisan support to push forward before the midnight hour. The legislation includes an agreement that Governor Ned Lamont was able to reach with the Mohegan and Mashantucket Pequot tribes back in March. House members approved the same bill last week and now it only needs the governor’s signature to become law.

Apple has reportedly slashed production volumes of the Vision Pro mixed reality headset by nearly half. So says analyst and leading Apple soothsayer Ming-Chi Kuo.

Kuo reckons the original plan was for up to 800,000 units of the headset in 2024. This has now been cut to 400,000 to 450,000. He also notes that Apple has made the call to reduce production before the headset has even gone on sale in markets outside the US.

That suggests demand in the US has been much lower than expected. What’s more, Kuo says the poor performance of the Vision Pro could mean that a planned update to the headset in 2025 may be cancelled.

Following surprise layoffs earlier this week that saw a number of well-loved veteran employees put out of work, Destiny studio Bungie has released a statement acknowledging that it has “lost a lot of your trust” but says that it remains “intensely focused on exceeding your expectations” with the upcoming Destiny 2 expansion The Final Shape.

The Apple leaking industry’s leading light, Mark Gurman, has released his latest brain dump and the big news is that Apple’s upcoming AR glasses are toast, at least for now.

Apple has reportedly been working on a pair of lightweight all-day-wearable AR glasses for some time. The product was slated to follow soon after Apple’s mixed-reality headset, which Gurman says is still set for release later this year.

Gurman says the AR glasses have suffered unspecified technical challenges and are now “years away” from release, if they happen at all.

According to Gurman, Apple thinks AR glasses could eventually replace its great cash cow, the iPhone. Functionality that is currently displayed on a 2D screen would move into the wearer’s field of view opening up dramatic new possib…

Have you ever played beloved, award-winning mystery game Return of the Obra Dinn and thought “I enjoy this puzzle-mystery format but I wish it was actually very different?” If so, well, there’s a game for you now. Duck Detective: The Secret Salami is a just-released casual mystery adventure about a world of animals, stolen lunches, and a somewhat down on his luck duck.

The developer calls it “Aggretsuko meets Return of the Obra Dinn” and I think that’s pretty good for what they’ve got here, a cozy casual mystery game that has low stakes but a lot of humor. It’s very character-focused, with your duckish protagonist interviewing suspects to figure out their motives and hidden secrets.

Over the last seven months, the clever bods at Source VR Mod Team have been adding VR functionality into Half-Life 2. The base game got all goggle-eyed last September, while Episode 1 received the VR treatment only last month. While I haven’t played Episode 2 in VR, I have taken vanilla Half-Life 2 for a spin on my (increasingly decrepit) Oculus Quest, and Source VR Mod Team’s adaptation is thoroughly excellent. If you were a medieval sheep farmer you’d probably be thrilled to discover new sheep magically appearing in your field every time you turned around. Wool for weeks, right? Your enthusiasm might begin to falter, though, right around the time you oversaturated the market to the point that wool was essentially worthless, not to mention you now had fields completely overstuffed with rapidly multiplying sheep.

While we’re not so convinced, the latest financial report from Meta shows staggering expenses in regards to its VR headset and augmented reality division that are difficult to ignore.

Meta’s first quarter results of 2024 reveal that Reality Labs, the company’s business and research unit that develops and produces VR headsets like the Meta Quest 3, made $440 million, a 30% increase attributed to Quest headset sales.
